Our Purpose
"The
Maury Hills Church exists to love God and
love people."
This simple
statement defines both who we are and what we do. It's based on
the teaching of Jesus found in Matthew
22:34-40 and Mark 12:28-34.
In these passages Jesus teaches that love is the greatest command
in all of Scripture. Therefore, at Maury Hills we seek to be a family
of believers who are deeply committed to loving God and loving
people. We seek to do this by . . .
Growing
(loving God through discipleship)
Discipleship means learning or following. To love
God is to learn from him and follow him. At Maury Hills we do
that through worship & small groups. Worship gives us the
opportunity to give thanks to God, be reminded of all he's done
for us, and grow closer to him. We worship together every Sunday
morning and each service draws us into a deeper relationship with
God and challenges us to live for him throughout the week. Small
groups give us another opportunity for spiritual growth &
discipleship. Groups meet throughout the week and give us the
chance to form friendships with other believers and study God's
Word together. They give us the encouragment and support that
we need to live the life of a disciple. We encourage everyone
to join at least one of our small groups.
Our
vision for worship & growth.

Serving (loving
people through ministry)
Ministry is another word for service. To love
people is to serve them. Jesus modeled this way of life for us
and asked us to do the same. He once said, "I did not
come to be served, but to serve." Serving others may
involve volunteering in our children's ministry, serving communion,
giving someone a ride to work or simply helping your neighbor
around the house. It doesn't matter where you serve or what type
of service you offer, just that you serve. We offer several opportunities
for service through our weekly ministries and/or partner ministries
in the community, but mostly we encourage people to simply be
servants right where they are (in their job, home, school, etc.).
You don't need a program to serve people. Simply look for needs
and meet them!

vision for ministry.
