Our Vision

The following is from Russ Adcox’s first sermon at Maury Hills (October 3rd, 2004). It describes the vision for our church. We seek to be a church that "loves God & loves people." But what does that mean in practical terms. That's what our vision is about!

Worship (to express our love to God through praise and prayer)

1. To have a time of shared worship that engages both the heart and the mind.
2. To offer a contemporary style of worship that is relevant to today’s culture.
3. To provide an accepting environment for both believers and seekers.
4. To be a church fiercely united through Jesus, yet open enough for differences.

Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. Hebrews 12:28 (NIV)

Grow (to express our love to God through study and obedience)

1. To help believers develop a life-long relationship with Christ.
2. To help people have a good understanding of the core teachings of Scripture.
3. To provide an atmosphere that allows for difficult questions.
4. To be a “safe place” for people to search for God and explore their faith.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2nd Peter 3:18 (NIV)

Serve (to express our love to peope through ministry)

1. To meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of others.
2. To be known as a church that serves the community in which we live.
3. To equip and empower every member to be a minister.
4. To be a church that doesn’t just practice surface-level Christianity.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1st Peter 4:10 (NIV)
